Eastman's Saflex FlySafe 3D polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers for laminated glass gives architects and designers more ways to protect birds and comply with new construction regulations without compromising aesthetics. Saflex FlySafe 3D is available in two different sequin sizes, 0.24 in. and 0.35 in. in diameter, with two color options of silver matte and shiny. In addition, FlySafe 3D can be configured with a 0.35-inch shiny sequin for both the interior and exterior sides, which is ideal for noise protection walls. The full Saflex FlySafe 3D portfolio allows designers to choose the best fitting bird protection to bring their designs to life. FlySafe 3D PVB interlayers can be combined with selective coatings and other Saflex products to add security, stability, acoustic control, solar control and protection from harmful UV rays. The interlayers can also be used effectively as the inboard or outboard laminate of an insulated glass unit.

AGC Glass Europe released three new Stopray products that focus on delivering high selectivity, a color-neutral appearance and low reflection.

Stopray Ultraselect 60/27 solar control glass features a triple silver coating that delivers good selectivity and a solar factor of 27%, effectively protecting rooms from overheating during the summer and thereby reducing the load on the air-conditioning system. It has a high light transmission of 60% and low light reflection of 11% (external) and 15% (internal). It also features a low a U-value.

Two other additions to the AGC range are Stopray Neutral 60/33(T) and Stopray Neutral 50/27(T), both featuring a double silver coating and good neutrality, making them ideal for architectural applications. Stopray Neutral 60/33(T) delivers light transmission of 60% and a solar factor of 33%, resulting in bright rooms that are protected from overheating. For more solar control, Stopray Neutral 50/27(T) delivers light transmission of 50% and solar control of 27%. Its low reflection of 13% (external) and 11% (internal) minimizes excessive reflection from artificial lighting.

SILVERSTAR BIRDPROTECT and BIRDPROTECT Saflex FlySafe 3D bird protection glass sustainably reduces the number of bird strikes whilst satisfying planners’ aesthetic requirements for their façade designs. The BIRDPROTECT Saflex FlySafe PVB film for laminated safety glass features three dimensional reflective sequins. These catch the light, creating a subtle sparkling effect that enables birds to recognise the glass as an obstacle. The three-dimensional structure of the nine millimeter sequins produces a subtle grid design, with the sequins spaced just 90 millimeters apart. Less than one percent of the glass surface is therefore covered by the sequin pattern, providing an almost unrestricted view.

Although the dot pattern is highly effective against bird strikes, it cannot be seen by humans from a distance of more than two meters, so it does not obstruct or obscure views
